Madisen Schillo, MA, LPC

Therapist

Hey, I’m Maddie!

(she/her/hers)

I am passionate helping others live a healthier and more fulfilling life. My therapeutic background is focused on human development, trauma, skill development, suicide prevention, life transitions, mood disorders, self-esteem, body image and eating disorders. I work with individuals 10 and up and have experience in Early Childhood Mental Health. I especially love working with teens and young adults in connecting to self-worth and building healthy relationships with food and their body.

I am trained and certified in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, as well as being trauma-informed in evidence-based practices.  I hold a certificate in Holistic Nutritional Consultation and take an anti-diet and body-neutral approach within the therapeutic space.

I am working towards my LPCC licensure under supervision by Kayla Estenson Williams, MA, LMFT.

Value-driven work

I take pride in providing a non-judgemental approach with clients and make sure I provide a safe and comfortable space for everyone to be fully themselves. I strive to promote multicultural competence and believe that I can learn just as much from my clients as they can from the therapy I will provide.

Person-Centered Approach

I am ready and prepared to discuss whatever you bring to session on any given day. I show up as an equal partner in the therapeutic relationship, meaning I will be there for support and guidance as you reach your goals and overall potential during your unique healing journey.

Integrative & Holistic Approach to Therapy

I find myself drawn to integrative practices depending on the kind of experiences you come to therapy with. I ground many of my sessions in mindfulness, balancing acceptance and change, empowerment, and unconditional positive regard.

My Specialties

I show up as an equal partner in the therapeutic relationship, meaning I will be there for support and guide you as you reach your goals and overall potential during your unique healing journey.

I find myself drawn to integrative practices depending on the kind of experiences you come to therapy with. Many sessions are grounded in mindfulness, balancing acceptance and change, empowerment, and unconditional positive regard.

I strive to promote multicultural competence and believes she can learn just as much from her clients as they can from therapy.

  • I especially enjoy working with the life transitions that show up in the later teen and early adult years. Here, we may notice anxiety, depression, body image, or trauma/attachment pieces that need attending to. I love to connect with clients in a relatable way so that they know that they are truly seen and supported through these experiences.

  • I enjoy working with those struggling with body image to increase self-worth and self-acceptance, treat eating disorder symptoms, and work through attachment pieces that may be connected to body image concerns. I work to empower my clients in knowing that they can heal and find acceptance within themselves.

  • I use trauma-informed approaches in all of my work. I often utilize tauma-informed CBT and CPT to help you process your experiences and bring in change that you are looking for. Trauma work often involves attachment work, and if it would be helpful to have your partner or family member in sessions, we can also add that in.

  • I am certified in Dialectical Behavioral Therapy and enjoy teaching these to clients who are looking for a skills-focus in therapy. Learn more about how we can utilize DBT in your treatment here.

I also enjoy teaching mindfulness techniques, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy skills, as well as other practices that help you to be fully present in your experience. I find that these practices allow us to truly work through what we are going through so that we can focus on our goals around growth.

  • I work with individuals 12 and up as well as couples and families. I’m passionate about supporting those healing trauma, working through grief or loss, or navigating anxiety and depression.
